EFCC and ICPC should arrest Emefiele, but it is not SSS' job - Olisa Agbakoba

The past President of the National Bar Association (NBA) talked about his "concern" about the SSS arresting Godwin Emefiele, who was the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Agbakoba said that there was no report because Emefiele had been suspended, but he didn't see why the SSS should arrest him because they don't deal with crimes related to money or business.

It is the responsibility of the SSS to ensure that everything within the country is secure. The question is, what will finally push them over the edge to decide to throw Emefiele in jail?

"It's strange that the other agencies that can look into financial crime are keeping quiet. They haven't said anything about Emefiele since he was taken off the job. Just pay attention to us and do SSS, they said, and it's theirs. What would it take for the SSS to arrest him if he wasn't accused of doing things to hurt the government? Agbakoba said.

The SSS arrested Emefiele, and PREMIUM TIMES Hausa wrote about it. When Tinubu tried to stop him, Emefiele was sent to jail.

In the story, it was also said that the SSS accused him of giving money to terrorists, but the court stopped his arrest in December because they didn't have enough proof.

The Security Service (SSS) said that it had arrested Godwin Emefiele, who was the late Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Shortly after the Federal Government said he was being fired, the DSS nabbed him.

Peter Afunanya, who works for the SSS and is in charge of broadcasting, told PREMIUM TIMES in a news release that Emefiele had been arrested.

"Indeed, we have Godwin Emefiele, who was the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) before he passed away. " He is currently under arrest and has been questioned by the police regarding the investigation that is being conducted into him. He included his signature on the letter that he wrote to the PM on behalf of Afunanya.

If we don't forget, the SSS tried to arrest him in December 2022 for supposedly giving money to terrorists, but the court said no because they didn't have enough proof.
