The Court Says Those Challenging Tinubu's Victory Should Pay 10 Million Naira
The Federal High Court in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, has rejected a petition filed by some residents of the city to prevent the swearing in of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While giving judgment on Tuesday, the judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, ordered the plaintiffs to pay N10 million each to the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the country.
The plaintiffs are claiming that President Bola Tinubu did not get 25 percent of the votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.
Justice Ekwo said that the plaintiffs do not have the right to file the case in the court, saying that the case should only be filed before the election complaint court, instead of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
